Modesto Junior College

In 2025, Bienestar Community Economics partnered with Modesto Junior College (MJC) and BEAM Circular to develop a career pathway framework for the circular bioeconomy. The project aimed to align education and training programs with the skills and credentials needed to enter and advance in the growing biomanufacturing sector.

Bienestar’s work included:

  • Analyzing labor market data and national bioeconomy models to identify required skills, credentials, and degrees.

  • Mapping MJC’s existing programs and certificates to illustrate how stackable credentials can support career progression.

  • Conducting a gap analysis to assess alignment between MJC’s offerings and industry needs, identify barriers, and highlight opportunities for growth.

  • Engaging higher education, industry, and workforce partners to vet findings and shape actionable strategies.

  • Providing recommendations to strengthen MJC’s programs and position the college as a regional leader in bioeconomy workforce development.

The result is a strategic framework that outlines clear opportunities for MJC and its partners to expand pathways, align programs with industry demand, and grow a skilled, inclusive workforce for the region.
